Season’s Third Draw
Lokomotiv tied the match with Terek in Gameweek 3 of the ROSGOSSTRAKH Russian Premier League’s new season.
There was a hitch in Lokomotiv’s trip to Grozny this time as the flight from Moscow got a bit delayed for operational reasons. The weather, on the other hand, turned out fine. While on Saturday Loko youth team had played in 32 degrees, the main squad exited the tunnel in a drizzle of rain.
Terek side opened the score as early as on 6 minutes. Mbengue cut out the ball in the middle third and launched a counter attack putting Ivanov clean through. The Red-Greens responded with a series of high crosses aimed at Skuletic in the box. The first two attempts went off target. But the third one was a sure goal, and Petar delivered.
Once into the second half, Lokomotiv stepped up the pressure setting up several chances. The best scoring opportunity presented itself to Ndinga off a corner kick, but he thumped the post. Skuletic and Miranchuk had the sight of goal as well but weren’t lucky to notch it.
The rest of the game belonged to Terek - much due to the bizarre expulsion of Pejcinovic. Nemanja had a slightly heated verbal exchange with Ivanov near the center of the pitch, Terek defender pushed the Serbian international down, yet Vladislav Bezborodov showed yellow to both. For Pejcinovic it was the second booking that converted into an ejection.
Despite being one man down, Lokomotiv held the line and secured a draw for the third time in the current season.
