Syomin: We still top the group
Lokomotiv head coach Yuriy Syomin draws conclusions from the third-leg game of the Europa League group stage against Sheriff (1:1).
- Looking at the table, the result is okay. Sheriff played well and had the support of the crowd. I think they liked it. Sheriff had more opportunities, but the draw is fair.
We have witnessed the goal-line technology at work. Be it not for the GLT I would have been wondering why the referee called the goal legal. But now I have no questions. I have always supported the introduction of the GLT in our league.
- Are you happy with how your team performed?
- I'm happy with their commitment. They didn't show their best play but were able to stand the pressure due to their spirit.
- How do you find the attackers' performance?
- They didn't impress today, though they were good against Dynamo and Zlin. We started having problems after the internationals returned from their campaigns. They are not all equally fit. I hope we'll find balance soon.
- Did you lack Alexey Miranchuk?
- Of course. This is our leading player. When he's not on the pitch, we lack creativity.
- Lokomotiv have played against every side in the group. Who brought you most troubles?
- Tonight it was Sheriff. We anticipated them to push hard in front of their crowd, but still it was a surprise to a degree.
- What do you think about the team's position in the table?
- We have five points, standing first.
- What would you say about Tiraspol?
- I am delighted by the sports base, the stadium and the ideal turf. Thank you for the meeting and the hospitality. It was great.
