César Montes is a new FC Lokomotiv defender
Football club Lokomotiv and Spanish Almeria have agreed on the transfer of central defender César Montes to our club. The duration of agreement with the 27-year-old footballer is 5 years.
Cesar was born on February 24, 1997 in Hermosillo (Mexico). The player began his football career at the local Poblado Miguel Aleman academy, then moved to Monterrey. The defender made his debut for the club's first team on July 29, 2015 in the Copa Mexico match against Correcaminos. In total, Montes played 265 matches for Monterrey, in which he scored 13 goals and made 10 assists. Together with the team, the footballer won several awards: he became the champion of Mexico (2019), twice won the Mexican Cup (2017, 2019/20) and twice became the winner of the CONCACAF Champions League (2018/19, 2020/21).
In January 2023, Cesar moved to Europe, signing a contract with Espanyol. For the Catalan club, Montes managed to play 22 games and score 3 goals. In September of the same year, the central defender changed his club registration again, moving to Almeria. Cesar played 23 matches for this team.
The footballer is also a key player of the Mexico national team. He has been playing for the national team consistently since 2017, took part in 49 matches and scored 1 time. In the last matches, Cesar took to the field with the captain's armband. As part of Mexico, the central defender won the CONCACAF Gold Cup twice (2019, 2023), and in 2020 he won bronze medals at the Tokyo Olympics.
Cesar is a tall defender who is great in aerial duels, while also being well coordinated, has good speed and an excellent first pass. Montes will play under number 23 for the Railwaymen.
Cesar, welcome to Lokomotiv!
