Win Over Ufa

Lokomotiv win against Ufa during Gameweek 20 of the ROSGOSSTRAKH Russian Football Championship.

There were several changes in the lineup as compared to the previous game. First and foremost, one could not help but notice the midfield duo of Kolomeytsev and Mykhalyk as well as Henty listed among starters for the first time.

Ezekiel proved his worth already in the opening half. The Nigerian had a shot on goal that went a little high, played a few passes into the area, showed great acceleration and created a promising chance just before half-time. Henty shook off his marker, cut inside and crossed into the six yard box drawing a save from Paurevic.

The second half unfolded in a similar manner. With Ufa defending solidly, Lokomotiv enjoyed territorial dominance and looked to pry open the opponents' defence. It took us ten minutes to reach success. Samedov was pushed from behind within the area, and Ignatiev converted the penalty.

After the homer, the game settled down. Lokomotiv went into a more defensive mode, while Ufa did not produce a single decent chance if you don’t consider the offside goal by Handzik as one. In the closing minutes the Railwaymen caught the opponent off guard on a counter. Samedov ran down the flank and placed a precise finish into the far corner.

Lokomotiv secured the victory keeping the third spot on the tournament table.
