First Home Defeat
Lokomotiv lose against Rostov in Gameweek 13 match of ROSGOSSTRAKH Russian Football Championship.
The game against Rostov was preceded by a little celebration right on the pitch. Niasse, whom fans named ‘player of September’, received a commemorative plaque seconds before the starting whistle. The plaque was handed over by the Zakharov family, whose members often show up in the Family area of the stadium.
The fixture with Rostov FC was not perceived as match of the week, however it was still important. The day before, CSKA had dropped some points in an away match in Grozny, giving Lokomotiv a chance to reduce the difference with the top side to just three points.
The first 45 minutes were spent by Lokomotiv in the attacking half. Rostov created a few chances on well-played counters, but our back lines with Durica and Mykhalyk filling in for Corluka and Pejcinovic, held against the visiting team.
The second half continued with Lokomotiv on the offensive. Niasse, Samedov and Kolomeytsev tried their luck, and each could have taken the lead. However, the home side failed to finish their opportunities. At the same time, Rostov grabbed virtually the first good chance they got. Poloz took a well-aimed shot at Guilherme’s goal off Bukharov’s assist into the centre of the area.
Immediately after, Loko went forward again. Niasse and Kasaev broke into the box, each on his own. Samedov and Denisov came close from dead ball situations. The Railwaymen’s coaching staff brought on Skuletic to pair up with Niasse.
Rostov was perfect striking on a counter-attack. The freshly-fielded Doumbia closed in one-on-one with Guilherme and buried the ball in the net.
Lokomotiv sustain their first home defeat this season.
