Last Minute Draw
The supporters’ turnout in the last games in Perm has been impressive. What attracts them to the stadium is the improved performance their team are showing, - Amkar had stripped many stronger clubs of valuable points lately. This time the announcer thanked everyone who stayed in the city to watch their favourite team’s play instead of going out of town for a barbecue. Really, they could have, - the weather was exceptionally suitable.
These words could also be addressed to the Lokomotiv fans who preferred to travel hundreds of miles to support their team. They occupied two blocks. Those who inhabited the section behind the goal unfolded a banner congratulating Jan Durica: recently the defender became a father to a wonderful girl. A smaller group at the central block was actually the youth team who had thrashed their opponents hours before.
Lokomotiv arrived in Perm in good mood. In the previous game, the team beat Gazovik in a Cup clash, the victory came hard but it brought positive emotions. As for the lineup, several important players were missing due to injuries, and Yanbaev had to remember how to play on the right flank. By the way, this game became Renat’s 200th in the red-green kit.
Lokomotiv rushed forward immediately after the whistle, but it was Amkar who created the first promising opportunity. The hosts played a set piece and Prudnikov tried to finish but Guilherme stopped the ball. Amkar played many corner kicks and free kicks in the proximity of Lokomotiv’s goal. However, the Railwaymen’s defence guided by the Brazilian keeper played well, while attackers tried to deliver the ball to the opponents’ third. Niasse, Samedov, and even Pejcinovic had opportunities but, alas, the first half ended 0:0.
In the second half, the teams continued trying their luck and in the 65th minute the hosts finally got what they wanted. The already-booked Tarasov knocked down Peev in his box. The referee kept Dmitriy on the pitch, but awarded Amkar a penalty. Peev was accurate - 1:0.
Loko ran for an equalizer. Gerus had to work hard, saving the ball from the corners while Niasse tried to sent it home finishing Samedov’s services. And in the last minute, Alexander scored himself and saved his team a point.
Lokomotiv’s attack made the hosts nervous and ended up in a strike at the empty net. The Red-Greens broke the shameful three-game winless run.
