Juniors Grab Win Over Rostov
Lokomotiv youth squad got the better of Rostov during Gameweek 27 of the Russian Championship.
Lokomotiv won 4:3 in the first-leg home clash against FC Rostov. But it was clear the return game would not be an easy ride. Rostov set their sights on the title. And the team were on a good run, after winning their last three matches.
Despite all of this, the entire first half belonged to Lokomotiv. The Railwaymen were more creative in attack and virtually snuffed out any danger in the defensive third. The 19-minute opener scored by Makhatadze from long range looked like something to be expected. Surprise came later, when we gave away a penalty as the half was dwindling. Fereferov failed to catch up with Yoo Byung-Soo, and the latter converted the penalty earned.
After the break, Lokomotiv stepped up the pace but were failing to make a good final touch that would convert a cross or a corner kick. Nevertheless, the Railwaymen did strike home on one of the last attacks. Minutes into play, substitute Ilya Rubtsov added a goal to his name.
Lokomotiv sail away with victory and remain in the top spot alongside CSKA.
