U-21s Smash Rubin
Lokomotiv youth squad won against Rubin FC during Gameweek 22 of the Russian Football Championship.
Lokomotiv youth team are shaping up well. After the defeat in Grozny, the Railwaymen pulled out a victory over Ufa and totally humiliated Krasnodar. Rubin, on the other hand, suffered a tremendous drop. Following their unbeaten run of 10 matches, the squad from Kazan sustained four straight losses.
And the fifth one came at the hands of Lokomotiv virtually as early as the middle of the opening half. First, Lysov pounced on a slip by Nesterenko who dropped the ball after Nikitin’s shot, and some time on Zhemaletdinov created a real stunner. Winning possession in the middle of the park, Rifat worked his way forward and blasted from around 30 meters right into a top corner.
Rifat also helped improve our lead in the beginning of the second half. After Galadzhan had played a pass to Zhemaletdinov, the latter gained pace simultaneously shaking off three defenders, and slotted home. The visiting side did get a consolation goal closer to the end of the match but soon conceded again – this time Tugarev had it to his name.
Lokomotiv pick up third consecutive win. Rubin’s run of losses stretches to five.
