Lokomotiv Advances To Russian Cup Semifinals
Lokomotiv have defeated Tosno in the Russian Cup quarterfinal and are going further.
The Cup clash with Tosno saw Lokomotiv employ a tactics with three central defenders. The team have been mostly practicing this formation throughout their training camps.
However, it was Tosno who had the initiative early in the game. They had possession, pushed the action to Lokomotiv's third but failed to create chances anyway. Well into the half, the Railwaymen restored the status quo when Pejcinovic had a go from a distance, Yanbaev was first to pick up the ball and passed it on to Miranchuk who made no mistake from about 12 metres.
Tosno rushed to level and soon threatened our keeper. Literally. Markov tackled Guilherme with a knee and was booked. Luckily, Marinato was able to continue playing.
In the second half both sides played equally but Lokomotiv still had more opportunities. The Railwaymen even scored a second goal which was cancelled due to a highly doubtfull offside.
Later in the game, Solomon Kverkvelia and Ari made their debut at Lokomotiv. The Brazilian striker even had a chance to improve the lead but lacked just a bit of luck. The Railwaymen repelled Tosno's last attacks and secured a victory.
In the Russian Cup semifinal Lokomotiv will face Ufa. The game should be held approximately on April 5th. The exact time and venue will be known later.
