Kuzmichev was born on October 20, 2000 in Tolyatti, Samara Region, where he also started playing football. Then he became a graduate of the Konoplev Academy, which he joined in 2017.
Ivan began his professional football career at Lada Togliatti, moving there before the 2019/20 season. He made his debut for the club on July 16, 2019 in a match against Volga Ulyanovsk (1:0). In total, the defender played 16 matches for the team from Tolyatti and scored 2 goals.
