Lokomotiv Draw Against Rostov
Lokomotiv have drawn against Rostov in Gameweek 22 of the ROSGOSSTRAKH Russian Championship.
The Lokomotiv vs Rostov fixture had been sold as a managers' duel. Such games rarely bring many goals. Cherkizovo was hosting two teams who play very reliably in defence, plus Rostov scores only on special occasions. It was naive to expect an abundance of goals.
Both teams created just one relatively promising opportunity when Poloz troubled Guilherme with an attempt from 17 metres. No other offensive by either team managed to get past the reliable defences.
The second half brought no surprise in terms of goals and chances, or just saw even tougher play. Denisov wasn't too polite with Kudryashov, Kverkvelia was hit in the face, and Maicon felt aerial battles were quite literally - battles.
An hour into the game the managers decided to shake up attack. Farfan substituted Maicon, Bukharov came in to replace Azmun. Lokomotiv managed to push Rostov back to their goal but not for long, as the visitors shook off the pressing quite soon and stated securing the scoreline.
Towards the end of the game, both teams still hadn't been able to uncork each other's defences, ending the game in a goalless draw. One of the highlights of the second half was the debut appearance of Amton Miranchuk who substituted Gernamdes.
