Loko Lost to Rostov
Lokomotiv suffered a defeat from Rostov in Gameweek 8 of the ROSGOSSTRAKH Russian Championship.
Because of the late kick-off time at Rostov, our coaching staff decided to hold training in the morning.
Yuriy Syomin said that one of the players who appeared impressive at practice sessions and during the match with Khimki was Portnyagin. So they handed him a starting role. The same was true about Kasaev: looking better now, he returned to the first eleven.
And the game’s first chance came through Kasaev. Igor won possession near the end line and played the ball back for Miranchuk to pick up. The latter shattered the crossbar. Afterwards the sides settled into defence and created few chances to open the score. We witnessed a skied effort by Poloz shooting from eleven meters. Then the same man finished one of Rostov’s signature attacks: a lateral break, a cross inside, and a goal.
Syomin did not hesitate to make changes. For the second half the manager brought on Mykhalyk. Several minutes underway, Henty replaced Kasaev in the field. For a time Lokomotiv forced the rival deep back to their end and kept crossing to the box. However, the advantage the Railwaymen enjoyed did not convert into anything feasible. Rostov stifled the game and came out with a victory.
