Loko to Play in Dushanbe

Loko’s first rivals in the series of pre-season friendlies will be the current Tajik champions Istiklol. The match is scheduled for June 26th, 7 p.m. (Moscow time) at the Central Republican Stadium in Dushanbe.

It will be a showpiece event, organized together with Russian Embassy in Tajikistan, in honour of the 25th anniversary of Tajik Independence.

Here is what Lokomotiv’s head coach Igor Cherevchenko says about it:

- We were picking opponents for off-season friendly matches keeping in mind that our training and instruction camp in June and July was to be held in Moscow. There came an invitation from a worthy rival in Dushanbe to play in a game linked to a festive occasion. Our outing will be short, but there are people who really wait for us - fans, the Russian Embassy staff and the Istiklol side. Personally for me this trip to Dushanbe is special because we speak of my native city. It’s the place where I grew up and learned football skills.
