Josef Zinnbauer is a new head coach of FC Lokomotiv
FC Lokomotiv has reached an agreement with Josef Zinnbauer, according to which the German specialist will take the position of head coach. Marvin Kompper will continue to work in the coaching staff and will still play a key role in preparing the team for matches. Zaur Khapov will continue to work with the first team.
Josef Zinnbauer was born on May 1, 1950 in Schwandorf (Germany). As a footballer, he played for a number of German teams, including Karlsruhe and Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga, as a midfielder. After ending his career due to injury, Josef began coaching. He led the youth teams of the Karlsruhe and Hamburg football clubs.
Since 2015, Josef has worked as a head coach of the St. Gallen football club (Switzerland), and in 2019 he was appointed head coach of the Orlando Pirates FC (South Africa). The club from Johannesburg became the bronze medalist of the South African Premier League twice, and also won the MTN 8 Cup (a tournament in which the top 8 teams in the league take part).
Tomas Zorn, Sports Director of FC Lokomotiv:
— We are glad to welcome Josef Zinnbauer to our team. As we planned, Lokomotiv is strengthening the coaching staff with a specialist with good experience in various championships. We also took into account that he has serious experience in working with youth and shares the principles of the game that we want to see in Lokomotiv.
This appointment will not affect the work of Marvin Kompper and his role at the club, he continues to prepare the team for matches, and also deals with the issue of obtaining a PRO license. As for Zaur Khapov, we are grateful to him for his work as a head coach in the second half of the last season. He will also continue to work at the headquarters as a goalkeeping coach and will oversee the preparation of players for the goalkeeping position in all club teams from the Academy to the first team.
