Igor Cherevchenko: We have had two different halves
Lokomotiv head coach Igor Cherevchenko has summarized the game against Ufa (2:0) of Gameweek 20 of the ROSGOSSTRAKH Russian championship.
- Here's what I say: we have had two different halves. I link it to psychology - we haven't won since November and after notching the first goal the guys unconsciously started defending the score. I have no questions for the defenders. As for the attackers, after the first goal they created too few chances. I'm satisfied with all the rest, though. The team worked hard, fought well, and earned these three points. I had warned them several days before the game it was going to be difficult. We suggested Ufa would play defensively and that's how it was. It was easier for the visitors: win the game - and you're heroes; draw it - well done; lose it - it's okay, and it's an away game.
- Henty had played full time, first time in the league. How would you comment on his performance?
- I'm happy with it but it's clear he's been with us for only two weeks and he and the team still lack mutual understanding. I also noted Ezekiel got tired around 30 minutes to the final whistle. But on the whole I'm optimistic and I'm positive is going to be better in the future. And by the way Henty didn't lie when he said he's faster than many players in the world. It's true.
- Is he well equipped technically?
- He is and you can see it during trainings and games. But Lokomotiv is still new to him and he's not really quite getting what we want from him yet. He is still to get used to other players, and the players are still to get used to him.
- Why did you substitute Kasaev?
- In halftime I saw the masseuse rubbing his sura. I didn't want to take the risk. Besides, I wanted to see Vlad Ignatiyev in action.
- Lokomotiv have broken that unhappy winless streak. Does that mean we're still in the race for the title?
- Our goal is to win in every game and earn points. The title? We don't object.
