Igor Cherevchenko: We planned to play on counters
Lokomotiv head coach Igor Cherevchenko has summarized the game against Zenit (2:0) of Gameweek 15 of the ROSGOSSTRAKH Russian Football Championship.
- We talked to the guys a lot before the game. It was obvious they were exhausted after Besiktas. While psychologically they were fine. Today the team worked to the fullest. I have no issues with the guys regarding this season. I didn’t have them even after Kuban. This victory is the congratulation to Olga Smorodskaya on her birthday. But still I think Zenit deserved a goal, they earned it, they had good opportunities.
- Has the ‘horror’ of the late October come to an end?
- ‘Horror’? There was no ‘horror’. It was an accident. Kuban? Well, sometimes it happens that one team scores off every attempt while the other has lots of chances but cannot convert. I watched the replay, and can tell you we should have won 8:6. But it’s football, and that’s why it’s interesting.
- What was your game plan?
- We have one for every fixture and the guys stick to it. Today we planned to play on counters. We’re good at it.
