Guilherme: It was Maicon’s big day

Lokomotiv goalkeeper Marinato Guilherme shares his take on the match against Anzhi (4:0) in the Russian Premier League’s Gameweek 13.

- The team started really well. Maybe, the coach said some magic words in his pre-match pep talk?

- I would not say it was out of the ordinary. We always try to be aggressive while playing at our home ground. This time we got into the groove immediately and, scoring two goals within the space of two minutes, found relief. Cool, it was Maicon’s big day.

- Can you recall at least one promising attack on the part of Anzhi?

- Yes, I do remember one perilous moment at two-nil - their shot hit the bar, luckily for us.

- In the first half your defenders often passed the ball back. Was it risky play or a trained move?

- No, it wasn’t risky. We play like that if we can. The team practice it during training sessions and try to use it in the game, if possible.

- Did you freeze?

- I did actually, in the second half.

- What did Yuriy Syomin say in the dressing room afterwards? Did he congratulate you?

- Of course, he did– wins like this one are very important for us, especially in home matches. Everyone is glad about how it happened. Loko demonstrated consistent play.
