Gerkus: Lokomotiv are finding their play

Lokomotiv’s President Ilya Gerkus visited the studio of #OurCherkizovoLIVE to share his thoughts following the Premier League’s challenge against Anzhi (4:0) on Gameweek 13.

- I am truly happy the team are showing the football all fans want to watch. We are getting back after the string of losses. Lokomotiv are finding their play - it looks pacey and fluid now, hence the result. I would like to see more clashes like this one.

- The head coach of Anzhi said that when his team went two down the game was done.

- There is always a chance of coming from behind. Numerous sides proved it time and again. What I liked about Lokomotiv is that guys did not fall deep into defence but continuously pushed forward. The match witnessed several good counter-moves, and we were purposeful in possession.

- Which of the goals is your favourite?

- Number two. Maicon stayed focused to apply the finishing touch when Kasaev crossed the ball for him.

- Match after match, we see more and more quality from Fernandes.

- I hope his best games are still ahead. He has gelled with the team, is turning a leader and does a very good job.

- You dropped in on the lads in the locker-room to congratulate them. What is the mood there now?

- They are thrilled. It is obvious the lads apply themselves and know that it’s merited. The victory will boost their confidence, which will help them in the future.
