‘Gotta be ready by the start of the season!’
Lokomotiv manager and the players have summarized the game against Chertanovo (1:3).
Igor Cherevchenko told about the game as just another practice exercise.
– It was a good training. The guys are still stiff, it’s hard for them to play now. We can view this game as another exercise. The youth team looked good - they were fresh and moved well. In a couple of days the internationals will arrive, we’ll gather for a general meeting, and then - work as usual!
In a comment to the Lokomotiv Facebook page, striker Marques Maicon said the game was hard:
– What are the impressions of the game? It was clear you’re just starting to gain form.
– Yes, the game was hard. We’re getting ready for the training camp. The first game is always hard. It was important to run more and win all the tackles. We have to be ready by the start of the League and the SuperCup.
– Has the manager told about the objectives for the training camp?
– Of course, our first goal is to get ready for the season, that’s number one. We spent our first days after the vacation here in Moscow, the weather was great. The conditions at the base are terrific: we have all we need for the practices.
– How important is the SuperCup game? People say it’s merely an exhibition game.
– Of course, it is important. We’re going to St Petersburg to fight for the trophy. Yes, Zenit are good but we are going to be 100% ready. We’re looking for a victory!
Lokomotiv defender Roman Shishkin notes the game was useful, while the hardest work is ahead.
- The game against Chertanovo was very useful: we felt that we have to get back into form, and ran a lot. When you play against such an opponent, it’s easier: you can have the ball more, and try to pass more. We have been away for two weeks and now it’s necessary to make ourselves ready for the start of the championship. I think, hard work is waiting for us in Austria, both in terms of physical training and tactics. But we’re going to be in the optimal form for the first game.
