Denisov: I am glad young players showed their worth

Lokomotiv defender Vitaliy Denisov appeared on #OurCherkizovoLIVE to review the game with Mordovia, share his thoughts on the season and asses the youth’s performance.

«I am slightly injured, but it is not so bad. I am glad we have won, and because the young players have shown their worth. The first goal was created with a through pass from Barinov tearing through the defence to set up for Zhemaletdinov who made the final touch. Probably, if Rifat were more experienced or lucky, he could have even bagged a hat-trick tonight.

There are currently many young players in Lokomotiv. It just proves the Academy, the second team and the coaching staff do their job. Two years from now Russia will host the World Cup, so the lads have something to look forward to. The more caps for the country players from Lokomotiv earn, the better it is.

It is a pity our season finished so poorly. The squad could have booked place in the Europa League. We will need to apply ourselves well at the training camp».
