Miranchuk: I knew Anton would make a backheel pass
Lokomotiv meidfielder Alexey Miranchuk tells about a winner he scored against Ural (2:1) and the call-up to the Russia national team.
- Can we say you are becoming one of the leaders of the team along with your brother Anton?
- You know, players don't like to attribute leadership to themselves. We are just doing our job. It's going on well, and give God it goes on like this.
- But today you two were the leaders. Do you have any kind of brotherly rivalry?
- No. We just want to play better every time. I strive more against myself than the brother.
- Which of you has been better today?
- Both. The team.
- Can you reminisce about the second goal? A backheel pass from Anton, and your persistence that made the goal possible...
- Dmitriy Barinov made a through pass to Anton and I knew he would make a backheel pass. I saw he wasn't going to be able to work the ball, and I read his next move.
- Was it hard to get over the conceded goal?
- It always feels nasty to concede a goal but it's just part of the game, making no mistakes is impossible. We are a team and we know ruefulness doesn't help.
- What's your estimation of your play, and that of your brother's? Are you excited by the call-up to the national team?
- Of course, it's always nice to be selected to the national squad. I don't think it has had any influence on the game because you have to give yourself away every time and be motivated. I'm glad we've demonstrated good play in attack.
- Describe how you were called up to the national team.
- Someone texted me. I was really glad because the brother got called too, and some other guys from Lokomotiv.
- The roster is pretty experimental. Are you going to feel like an experienced player?
- I think so. I'm going to feel more comfortable than the first-timers. But it's the national team. It's not important who comes from where.
